FLAPPY

This is a show about me, Holly, a dyspraxic living in this neurotypical world. Expect some joy, some frustration, and rather a lot of exaggerated arm movements. You may even find out what dyspraxia actually is, well for me anyway.

Flappy is an autobiographical show developed and performed by me Holly Clark. It explores what Dyspraxia is and what it means to be me, the challenges of living in a society that disables, as well as acceptance and celebration of being Dyspraxic, neurodivergent and disabled.

I initially undertook a 3-day nest online residency with Talking Birds in Dec 2020 to help develop an initial idea. This led to receiving Arts Council England funding for research and development in May 2021, working with choreographer Eleanor Rattenbury and theatre maker and dramaturg Jane English, with support from Arena Theatre Wolverhampton.

Flappy was then awarded Arts Council England Project Grants funding for further development and a small tour. With support from Attenborough Arts Centre, Arena Theatre, Shoot Festival and Hawkwood college.

Flappy was performed at Shoot Festival - Coventry, Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton and Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester, Depature lounge, Derby Theatre

GUSH

by GUSH Theatre

GUSH! is an interactive pop-culture extravaganza. Fun and fast paced, it uses all the content we consume daily to explore the patriarchy

I was co-producer and co-deviser/ performer on this project.

We had a week of R&D Arena Theatre with a sharing at the end of the week in June 2019. We performed a 75 minutue performance of GUSH! at The Gap, Birmingham, March 2020

We applied for ACE Funding in March 2021 for further development of the show post Lockdowns to the reflect the changes in the world

Audience comments:

'Surreal, witty, sublime and much needed. @GUSHtheatre was a fantastic

way to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay.'

'GUSH Theatre presented a mischevious, rebellious and clever piece of
theatre to their audience. The performers weave side-splitting
humour with moments of utter heartbreak, all the while
holding a clear middle finger to the patriarchy.'

'Well done to the incredible women
behind @GUSHtheatre - funny,

immersive, introspective all rolled into one.'

Theatre Mix-02 (1).jpg

Co- Producer

It's a cross-artform performance night in Birmingham, a bit of a cross between a scratch night & an open mic. We welcome a range of artforms at different stages of development.

Due to the Pandemic Theatre Mix went online for Theatre Mix @ Home a live-streamed performance night for West Midlands artists - scripted, devised, music, spoken word, cabaret, dance and more. This was funded by Arts Council England.

FOR THOSE WHO MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME

Join Holly and her guests as an audience in a Live TV recording of your favourite children's TV show. On today's programme, you will learn How to be a good citizen and how to make Britain, A truly great Country to be in.

We all know the life society expects us to have, routes we are expected to. From an early age we start understanding how society is formed and to abide by it and its rules.  Everyone currently is working more for less money and still trying to achieve everything that we are expected to.

For some this isn't possible, others they just simply don't want to conform

Created as part of the Progression programme ‘It's all in your head’ at GLYPT supported by Arts Council England. Exploring mental health, autobiographical experiences and learning how to turn this into solo performances.

I devised a 20 minute interactive performance mentored by Drunken Chorus and performed at Camden People’s theatre as part of Sick of The Fringe with intergrated BSL interpretation by Becky Barry

As well as Tristan Bates theatre alongside Drunken Chorus, which was part of First Festival.
